Permanent makeup is a great solution for individuals who want to look and feel their best every day without the time or financial commitment of applying makeup daily. Also known as cosmetic tattooing, permanent makeup is a technique through which pigment, formulated for the face, is placed into the dermal layer of the facial skin. This process inputs permanent colored pigments into eyebrows, eyes, lips, and cheek areas.
Performed by Cobblestone Park Family Dental’s Erin Roberts, RDH, all permanent makeup is performed with skill and precision to achieve the exact results desired.
Permanent Makeup Treatment Areas
The shape and color of the lips will be discussed at the time of the consultation. The client may draw on the shape that they want prior to arrival or they can wait and the nurse may draw on the shape for the client. It is important that anyone who has had herpes simplex viruses and/or has had a cold sore take the prescription medicine Famvir® (anti-viral) prior to the procedure. Another option is to purchase L-Lysine, an over-the-counter vitamin that seems to inhibit cold sores. Prior to treatment, our nurse will numb the area using an anesthetic, which will be a combination of topical numbing cream and injections.
This is one of our most common procedures performed. The shape, thickness and color of the client’s eyeliner will be discussed at the time of the consultation. On the day of the procedure, the client has the option of either wearing their eyeliner to the appointment or waiting to have the nurse apply it when she arrives. The anesthetic used will be a topical numbing cream.
The shape, thickness and color of the client’s eyebrows will be discussed at the time of the consultation/procedure. On the day of the procedure, the client has the option of either drawing on the eyebrows prior to arriving at the appointment or waiting to have the nurse draw the eyebrows on for her when she arrives. We will use anesthetic injections to numb the eyebrow area prior to treatment.
Permanent Makeup Treatment Details
A permanent cosmetics procedure can take anywhere from one to two hours, depending on the size of the treatment area and the amount of permanent makeup being applied. Immediately after the procedure, our nurse will apply a topical ointment on the treatment area to aid in healing. Some clients may require several sessions, spaced several weeks apart, to achieve the desired results. The results of permanent makeup may gradually fade over time. Touch-up treatments can be performed to keep the appearance of the permanent cosmetics looking refreshed and natural.
