Candidacy for Porcelain Veneers

Placing Your Porcelain Veneers
Creating and placing your custom-made veneers typically takes two dental appointments. During the first appointment, we will take impressions of your teeth, which will be used to fabricate your veneers in a dental laboratory. A small amount of tooth enamel may be removed in order to create a snug fit. We will place temporary veneers over your teeth while you wait for your permanent ones. You may experience some mild sensitivity to hot and cold temperatures due to the removal of enamel. This is only temporary and should disappear within a few days. When your final veneers are ready, you will return to our office for placement. We will remove your temporary veneers and bond your permanent veneers into place using a strong dental adhesive. Before you leave, our dentists will make any necessary adjustments to your veneers, in order to ensure a good fit.How Long Do Porcelain Veneers Last?
With proper care and oral hygiene, porcelain veneers can last for many years. They do not require any special treatment and should be brushed and flossed like natural teeth. We recommend you avoid biting down on hard foods and objects (e.g., ice, fingernails and bottle caps), which can potentially crack or fracture your veneers. Regular dental checkups with our team are also important so we can monitor your dental health and make suggestions that can help preserve the beauty and function of your veneers.
