Restorative dentistry refers to a number of treatments that focus on repairing or rehabilitating decayed, damaged or missing teeth. When performed by an experienced dentist, restorative dental treatments can restore the natural look, health and function of teeth.

Dental fillings are typically the first option in treating tooth cavities and decay. Fillings are placed on damaged teeth to strengthen their structure and prevent further decay. Made of composite resin, dental fillings match the color of your natural tooth, for a seamless smile. Fillings are typically placed in one appointment.
If a tooth has a large amount of decay or trauma that cannot be properly treated by a dental filling, an inlay or onlay may be a better option. Inlays and onlays are crafted in a dental laboratory to match the look and feel of your natural teeth. They are bonded directly to the affected teeth and can last many years without any problems.
(With or Without Implant Replacement)
A dental crown is a cap that is placed over a tooth to strengthen its structure and restore or maintain its natural appearance. Dental crowns are appropriate after a tooth has endured specific trauma or built up large decay. We may also recommend placing a dental crown if an old filling needs replacement or after a root canal. There are many types of dental crowns to choose from including MCR (metal ceramic restorations), ceramic to porcelain substrate and all-porcelain crowns. We will recommend a type for you based on your needs and preferences. Two appointments are typically required to fabricate and place your dental crown. Custom shading is available.
(With or Without Implant Placement)
Bridges, otherwise known as fixed partial dentures, are a series of connected crowns that replace missing teeth. A dental bridge is supported or “anchored” by the surrounding teeth. There are several types of bridges to choose from to cater to the different needs of patients. Like crowns, bridges are made from MCR (metal ceramic restorations), ceramic to porcelain substrate, or all-porcelain. Dental bridges typically take two appointments to complete. Custom shading is available.
A partial denture consists of a bridge attached to a base made of gum-colored plastic to replace missing teeth. Deciding to wear a partial denture can help prevent future problems due to teeth shifting to fill in the gaps, premature damage and wear to the remaining teeth. Partial dentures also help support lips and cheeks to keep skin from sagging and wrinkling.
Typically made in two to three appointments, partial dentures are removable with either an acrylic or acrylic/metal base designed to match your gums. They have replacement teeth and some form of a clasp that attaches to your surrounding teeth. Removable partial dentures can be further stabilized with implant placement. There are many types and designs that we are happy to discuss with you.
Full dentures are replacement teeth attached to an acrylic base that is custom fit to your gums. There are different types of acrylics and teeth, in a variety of colors and contours. The differing materials affect the overall price of the denture set. The upper denture is a plate, covering the roof of your mouth. The lower denture is horseshoe-shaped and rests solely on the gum and bone tissues. There are ways to secure both the upper and lower plates to your jaws to limit their movement.
Whether you have worn dentures for years with or without implants or are making the decision to begin wearing dentures, Cobblestone Park Family Dental can help. Dentures should look natural when you talk and smile, and we pride ourselves on taking the time to customize your denture set, offering try-in appointments to give you the smile and function you desire.
Immediate dentures are available for those individuals who are going from natural teeth to replacement teeth but never want to go without teeth. Fabrication of the denture is completed and then the set is delivered the same day that the natural teeth are removed. The new plates can then aid in healing and actually help the mouth and gums adapt to having a removable prosthesis.
Dental implants are the most stable and durable type of restoration used to replace missing teeth. A dental implant consists of a titanium post that is surgically inserted into the jawbone, an artificial tooth (dental crown or bridge) and an abutment that connects the two together. Dental implants can also replace several teeth when connected to a dental bridge or dentures.
